How To Make Bootable Pendrive without any third party software?
Need to install Windows 7 on a computer with no DVD drive? Do you want to create a backup installer in case your install disc becomes damaged? Follow these guide to get the Windows install files onto a bootable USB flash drive.
Steps To Make Bootable Pendrive
Step 1: Insert your pendrive in USB PortStep 2: Navigate to Start>>Run[OR press Ctrl+R] and type cmd and press Enter to open Command Prompt.
|Windows Vista and Windows 7 users will have to navigate to Start>>All Programs>>Accessories>>Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator|
Step 4: The next step is to type LIST DISK and press Enter
In a USB port. Your pen drive must be atleast 4 GB, 8 GB pendrive is best for this purpose. Now go back to the diskpart console and type ‘listdisk’ and press enter. This will list the various storage devices available. You can see the size column of the disk and here we can see that ‘disk 2′ is our pen drive. Warning: In your computer it may be some other number. In my case it is ‘disk 2′.
Step 5: Observe carefully, you will see Disk 0 normally this is your Hard Disk
Find your USB Device number, In my case Disk 2 is my USB pen drive
Please note that Disk 2 may not pen drive in your case, so be careful with this step
Step 6: Now type SELECT Disk 2 and press Enter
Note: in our case it is disk 2, in your case it may be disk3, or disk 1 or any other number. You can enter ‘detail disk’ to see the details of the disk after selecting it toverify that you have selected the correct disk. You can see these steps in the image below:
Step 7: Now type CLEAN and press Enter, this will erase data from Disk 2(in my case) i.e. your Pen Drive.
Step 8: Type Create Partition Primary and press Enter
Step 9: Type Select Partition 1 and press Enter
Step 10: Type Active and press Enter
Step 11: Type Format FS=fat32 and press Enter, this will format your USB Pen Drive.

Step 10: Type Active and press Enter
Step 11: Type Format FS=fat32 and press Enter, this will format your USB Pen Drive.
Step 12: Type Assign and press Enter
Step 13: Now, finally type Exit and press Enter
Step 14: After the format is complete, put in your original Windows 7 DVD in your DVD drive, or if you have an .iso image of the DVD, mount that image using any virtual drive software like Power ISO.
- Now go to My Computer, and open the contents of DVD Drive. Press ‘ctrl+a’ to select all contents and copy all the contents by pressing ‘ctrl+c’.
- Now go back to My Computer and open the USB Drive and press ‘ctrl+v’ to paste all the contents of DVD into the USB Disk.
Now bootable pendrive with windows operating system is ready to install.
